The Next Big Thing

I have been tagged by Aimée Avery. Thanks, Aimée.  :)

This means I have to answer 10 interview questions about the next book/story I'm working on. Not an easy task as I am working on several things. But here goes!

What is the working title of your book?
Short-story collection with Enid Wilson and Debra Watson is tentatively titled "Headstrong Girls," and novella of "To Boast Of My Own Child" (my first full-length story).

Where did the idea come from for the book?
"To Boast" came about when I wondered how a virgin-Darcy might get his "education." A very helpful beta pointed me to some literature available to Regency gentlemen, and that's when the story took off.

What genre does your book fall under?
"To Boast" is a Regency romance inspired by Pride and Prejudice.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Hmm, I suppose a young Colin Firth would do for Darcy.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
At Rosings, Darcy discovers Elizabeth is pregnant - and he is the father. (Oh, that's a terrible synopsis! I have to do something better when I'm awake.)

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
Self-published, the only way to go!

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
A year, plus a year of writer's block caused by a huge attack of insecurity.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I try not to compare my stories to others'.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?
Well, Aimee inspired me to get this story published, but Victoria Claughton and Sue Forgue were the betas who patiently and persistently supported me in the writing process.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
Oh, that's too personal!
